The Texas Stroke Institute (TSI) is a collaborative initiative that includes nine North Texas HCA hospitals. The goal of TSI is to develop an effective and resource-efficient plan to reduce the morbidity, mortality and economic burden of stroke in the region. By 2013, all acute care adult hospitals in the division will hold Joint Commission certifications as Primary or Comprehensive Stroke Centers. Incorporating medical education and participating in research has established TSI as a national leader in stroke care. The Texas Stroke Institute offers a two-year fellowship in Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (aka Interventional Neurology). There will be two fellowship positions (non-ACGME) every year starting July 2010. Neuro-Interventional Fellows will be exposed to:

  • Cerebral & Spinal Angiography
  • IV & IA Stroke thrombolysis
  • Mechanical thrombectomy
  • Carotid & Intracranial S tenting
  • Aneurysm & AVM embolization
  • Brain/Spine Tumor embolization
  • Other procedures of head/neck/spine
  • Telemedicine

Nevada Neurosciences Institute located on campus at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV is southern Nevada's first comprehensive clinical neurosciences center that offers access to world-class medical care and neurodiagnostics for brain and spine diseases, disorders and injuries including stroke, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Services include complete neurological care for adults and children. Complimented by the sophisticated technologies of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital, NNI ensures that patients receive the most accurate diagnosis and advanced treatment options. This includes advanced diagnostic imaging, the region’s first Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center and only full comprehensive stroke center.

South Bay Hospital, a 112-bed acute care hospital in Sun City Center, Florida, earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers and was also a Get with the Guidelines® Silver Plus award recipient for advancing care for South Shore Hillsborough County through their stroke program. In addition, South Bay Hospital was recognized by the Joint Commission as Top Performers in quality by scoring 95% or higher on accountability measures.
