HCA Behavioral Health Services – Recruitment
HCA Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is one of the fastest growing service lines within HCA and one of the nation’s largest acute care psychiatric providers. Behavioral health issues permeate everyone’s life with one in every four afflicted by diagnosable mental health or substance abuse disorders each year.
Behavioral Health Services
Nationally, 21% of all patients within hospitals have either a primary or a secondary psychiatric diagnosis. An HCA study reported 31% of our patients have some behavioral health co-occurring related mental health or substance abuse issue.
HCA BHS operates behavioral services at 55 locations, with a total bed count of over 2,500. BHS serves all age populations: 57% adult, 21% geriatric, 13% child and adolescent, and 9% dedicated to specialty services such as substance abuse and eating disorders.
Given the high incidence rate of behavioral health disorders and the significant impact on our community, HCA began an initiative in 2008 to develop a strategic approach to these services with the goals to:
- Strategically partner with hospital affiliates to improve the management of behavioral health services
- Align behavioral health services with other services and systems within HCA to leverage synergies and improve patient outcomes
- Identify meaningful growth opportunities and institute a platform for increased effectiveness and collaboration through existing HCA behavioral health services
