Job Summary

This is a PRN opportunity for an Associate Pathologist to join our dynamic group for IRLPS. This is a Hospital based employed position offering excellent compensation and a great working environment in a location that offers great housing options, some of the best schools and ideal lifestyle amenities.
The successful candidates will have at least 3 years Hospital based practice experience and hold an active Florida license. Requirements include board certification in AP/CP. Sub specialty training/certification is also highly desirable.
We are seeking candidates who live in the area only and do not plan to reimburse travel OR lodging for this position. The facilities will include 3 Treasure Coast facilities as well as periodic travel to Palm Beach hospitals. This is a great opportunity for someone who just wants to work a few shifts a week/month. The Hospital Associate Pathologist is a staff position responsible for providing pathology and laboratory diagnostic support services to health care providers at the assigned facility.

Under the direction of the Market, Asst. Market, or Facility Medical Director, assumes responsibility for assigned laboratory departments, performs clinical and anatomic pathology services to ensure service objectives and results are in accord with overall facility needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
? Gross description, tissue sampling, microscopic examinations of surgical and bone marrow specimens, reporting of findings, verifying and coding diagnosis in the computer within 48 hours for routine cases.
? Appropriate analysis of surgical specimens, intra-operative surgical pathology consultations and prompt reporting of results.
? Screening and reporting non-gynecological cases including fine needle aspiration specimens in no more than two working days for routine cases.
? Provides call coverage for anatomic and clinical pathology needs at assigned facility(ies)
? Taking photographs of specimens when indicated
? Maintaining high standards of professional services to ensure that the laboratory meets all hospital and IRL regulatory and accreditation standards.
? Assists in the development and implementation of new policies and disseminates pertinent information following administrative directives.
? Performs tasks as assigned, which may include quality assurance and participation in IRL, hospital, and department committees and meetings.
? Supports the activities of the pathology and laboratory departments in relation to other hospital departments to ensure that facility needs are met.
? Serves as a resource for facility based clinicians regarding the appropriate utilization of laboratory services.

Professional Functions:
? Effectively works with all levels of the HCA/IRL organization and the medical staff base to ensure a service delivery system, which sets standards of excellence in terms of quality, response time, and overall customer satisfaction. Key stakeholders include IRL and hospital management, hospital Medical Director, medical staff and associate pathologists, core laboratory PhDs, laboratory employees, and select IRL commercial clients.
? Meets regularly with stakeholders to ensure effective communication interfaces are established, maintained and enhanced.
? Continually monitors and stays abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the laboratory industry, and ensures changes are accurately communicated to affected departments and implemented on a timely basis.
? Supports the Medical Director in ensuring that the hospital laboratory meets regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
? Graduation from an accredited medical school and have completed an approved residency in anatomic and clinical pathology.
? Board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology required. Board Certification in Hematopathology desirable.
? State of Florida license required or application in process. .
? In depth and up-to-date knowledge of clinical and anatomic pathology in a hospital laboratory setting.
? 3 years of hospital based experience is highly desirable. .

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse professional work force
? Experience with methods, tool and measurements for quality improvement
? Knowledge or regulations and standards of the JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and AABB
? Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses as definitive in the care and treatment of patients
? Skill in managing stress in self, and in others
