As Gainesville’s community hospital, North Florida Regional Medical Center (NFRMC) has continued to expand in order for more people to have access to the quality, award-winning care NFRMC consistently delivers. During 2014, the hospital opened a 20-bed behavioral health unit in response to the acute need for increased behavioral healthcare in the community. We also opened Neurosurgical Specialists of North Florida in order to provide comprehensive neurosurgical care, specifically cranial procedures. Over the past few years, North Florida Regional has undergone several expansions and is now a 432-bed, full-service medical and surgical acute care center serving residents throughout North Central Florida.

In addition, the UCF College of Medicine HCA GME Consortium is developing community based programs to produce outstanding physicians who will meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. Together, they have opened a successful Family Medicine program in 2015 and Internal Medicine will open in 2016 with several new programs slated for the near future.

Job Summary

North Florida Perinatal Associates - Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician
Join growing Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice in Gainesville, Florida!

Envision Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for a board eligible or board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine physician in Gainesville, Florida at North Florida Perinatal Associates. We are seeking a dynamic and energetic candidate who wants to provide compassionate, high quality care in a busy and expanding practice.

This practice opened in April 2014 and quickly established itself as a premier practice with a reputation for quality and excellent customer service. The practice continues to grow with a steady referral base from local doctors as well as providers in surrounding communities. The current MFM enjoys a collegial relationship with all of their referring providers. We provide inpatient consultation for the L&D unit at North Florida Regional Medical Center (NFRMC). NFRMC currently delivers half of babies in the region, and the hospital administration is committed to the success of the MFM service line to help support its Level II NICU. The ultimate goal is to increase deliveries in order to obtain the Level III NICU certification. Partnering with delivery services in the 14 surrounding counties, the hospital and MFM/NICU providers are looking to establish referral patterns to increase the number of high-risk patients.

We are the only AIUM accredited practice in North Central Florida. Our practice uses GE E10 ultrasound machines and ViewPoint for reporting. This is a consultative-only practice and do not provide routine OB care or perform deliveries. Outpatient services include detailed fetal ultrasound, fetal echocardiogram, nuchal translucency, antepartum testing as well as consultation for medical and obstetric complications. The three sonographers in our practice are RDMS certified and are all boarded in fetal echo. Our current provider performs genetic amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and emergent cerclage. Proficiency in these skills is welcomed but not required.

NFRMC has a budding Graduate Medical Education program. Family Practice and Internal Medicine residents are rotating through the facility, and they’ve recently gotten approval for an OB Residency program to start July 2018. This residency program would allow the MFM joining the practice to get a faculty appointment with the University Of Central Florida School Of Medicine. Teaching, lectures, and the development of a high-risk clinic from the ground up would be possible upon the inception of the OB residency program.
