Job SummarySunrise Children's Hospital is assisting a well-established single specialty pediatric cardiology group in their effort to recruit a fellowship trained pediatric electrophysiologist.
The new physician, who we hope will be available early in 2018, will be the second pediatric electrophysiologist to join our program. We prefer an individual that is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology with several years of post-fellowship experience, although individuals completing a EP fellowship program in 2018 will also be considered. A fellowship applicant must, at a minimum, be board certified in pediatrics. All applicants must have permanent residency status or be US citizens.
The practice is a very busy, state-wide independent institution with permanent outpatient clinics in Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City. The program consists of 23 providers: 17 cardiologists, 2 congenital heart surgeons, 1 in house geneticist, and 3 NP and PA extenders. All patients undergo invasive procedures and surgery at the Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas.
The group physicians have faculty appointments with the 2 University of Nevada Medical Schools in Las Vegas and Reno. They are involved in teaching medical students and residents but there is no pediatric cardiology fellowship program. They maintain an active research program, a vast electronic database, and self-fund all investigations including basic science research.
The group performs about 54,000 patient contacts (combined inpatient & outpatient) annually and 30,000 echocardiograms, including TEEs and fetal echo echocardiograms per year. Additionally, they perform about 350 catheterizations, annually, as well as approximately 500 surgical procedures, of which more than half 275 are pump cases.
The EP program currently performs about 100 invasive electrophysiology procedures each year. The program also follows approximately 250 patients with implanted devices and averages 20-25 device implants per year. We offer a new Paceart Optima system for clinical data storage. An experienced, full-time RN is dedicated to the EP program. Sunrise Children’s Hospital is equipped with state of the art EP mapping systems including the latest updates for Carto and NavX systems.
