WOUND HEALING CENTER

The HCA Virginia Wound Healing Centers are nationally recognized for their success in treating wounds. They treat a wide range of chronic, recurrent, non-healing and acute wounds, including:

• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Bone or tissue infections
• Complications from radiation surgery
• Crush injuries
• Gangrene
• Pressure ulcers
• Arterial ulcers
• Venous leg ulcers
• Burns

A multidisciplinary team of professions work together to provide patients the best outcomes, including multispecialty physicians and surgeons, nurses, case managers, diabetes educators and rehabilitation therapists.

Highly specialized care such as:

• Hyperbaric oxygen
• The Burn Program
• Rehabilitation Services
• Education & Prevention Programs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts a thorough patient history and medication review.
2. Conducts a thorough wound assessment, including wound measurements, wound cultures, labs, EKG, CXR and transcutaneous oxygen measurements.
3. Educates the patient, family and hospital staff in regards to the Wound Healing Center and appropriate tests and procedures.
4. Facilitates outpatient and inpatient care in relationship to wound healing by communicating with physicians, staff nurses, physical therapy, diabetes care, nutritional support and other ancillary departments as needed.
5. Documents care, education, physician orders and communications per hospital and Wound Healing Center policies and procedures.
